HR 2159

HR 2159 is a bill recently introduced by New York Republican Representative, Peter King, will allow the Attorney General to deny firearms permits or transfer of a firearm to any "known or suspected terrorist.  Although this may sound appropriate, one must keep in mind that the Department of Homeland Security recently released a memorandum labeling constitutionalists, third party supporters, pro-lifers, Christians and several other groups of law-abiding citizens as possible terrorists.

Will the Federal government attempt to overrule your 2nd amendment rights just because you support a third party?  Probably not right away, but the decision will be afforded to one person, the Attorney General, with passage of this bill.  Should one government official be able to determine without due process of law whether or not you may excersize your constitutional liberties?  It is certainly a serious enough matter to be of concern.

This is the most recent version of the popular Hate Crimes Legislation bill.  It has passed the House and has now been refered to the Senate.  This is the bill as received by the Senate.
