Economics

The national economy and our state economy are in shambles with high unemployment and regulations that stifle free enterprise. In their centralized planning efforts, plans far from the minds of our Founding Fathers, government often picks winners and losers by use of its funding and tax policies. Thomas Jefferson addressed this saying, “The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits.” Both country and state have piled up excessive debt. Thomas Jefferson also wisely stated, “No generation has a right to contract debts greater than can be paid off during the course of its own existence.” Foreign countries are financing our runaway spending and debt, leaving us dangerously dependent on them.

Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution states, “Congress shall have the Power To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof.” Congress has abdicated its responsibilities with paper money no longer backed by gold and silver, fiat, now bearing the name “Federal Reserve Note.” The Federal Reserve Bank is a private bank run by unelected officials with increasing authority to manipulate interest rates and money supply, and has obligated the American people to pay for trillions of dollars. By arbitrarily expanding the nation’s money supply, the Federal Reserve creates inflation. Inflation destroys wealth, which is evidenced by a dollar now being worth only five percent of its value since the creation of the Federal Reserve. We advocate an audit of the Federal Reserve to discover accountability, followed by its eradication and a return to the gold standard.

Michigan’s state government is complicit in the destruction of our wealth under Article I, Section of the Constitution which says, “No State shall…make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts.” We support the return to making gold and silver a tender in payment of debts thereby returning Value to our currency, stabilizing the money supply and protecting our wealth.

We support American businesses and the American wage-earner. We support free enterprise, but not free trade. Free trade is driving American jobs out of the state and country at an accelerated rate due to cheaper labor found elsewhere in “a race to the bottom.” Our freedom and independence are being threatened. We support duties on imported goods to protect our standard of living that “all ships may rise.”
