Yes to Christianity

WHY "NO" TO SOCIALISM, AND "YES" TO CHRISTIANITY?

Recenty, on a web site designed for Conservative-oriented conversation, I was very surprised to read a an inquiry by one of the group,
asking, "What is so wrong with the advancement of socialism in our government, in our elected officials, and in our general society?"

The writer went on to imply that "the wheel of Socialism" has "many spokes", and then wondered, "How can the whole "wheel" be rejected, in toto" by our side?

Additionally, the writer also asked if persons with Christian ideals should be accepted into our philosophical discussions, or if we should prefer that a Christian participant refrain from contributing in discussions involving morality issues (presumably because such a person would have too great a bias, and not be "open-minded" to contradictory ideas}.

Let's look a little closer at why we vehemently say "No!" to Socialist ideals, and say "Yes!" to Christian ideals:

Whenever we, as Constitutionalists, begin to address these kinds of inquiries, it is important for us to consistantly point back to foundations upon which this nation was laid:

- Individual self-determination;
- Constitutionaly-specifiedl governmental limitations; and
- Biblical principals of morality for a civil society.

Constitutionalists should be quick to help those around us to understand that every spoke of the "wheel of Socialism" works in opposition to individual freedoms and contributes to the weight of oppressive governmental control into private lives.  Socialism seeks to collect the resources of a nation for redistribution in ways deemed "equitable" by the politicians.

Our questioning fellow citizens need to understand clearly that the founding ideals of the American Constitutional Republic are:

1) The People are arbiters of their own destiny, within the parameters provided
by the Creator;
2) The People have formed themselves into 50 soveriegn and representative States
to promote the prosperity of the civil society; and
3) The Federal Government was formed BY the States and BY The People to be
subserviant to their needs and serve their benefit - not that the central federal
government should dominate the States, or The People.

They also need to recognize that our nation was formed around ideals based in Biblical principles, and as a nation of religious tolerance. That is our foundation.

It is wise and prudent for us to encourage adherance to those ideals, and encourage leaders who rely on those principles. While we cannot establish any national form of religion or beliefs, it is in our best interest to support those who do within their personal lives. True wisdom comes from a growing intimate knowledge of God's will for us mortals, and persons who acknowlege such influence in their own lives may be best suited to represent and act in the better interests of their fellow citizens. To reject Christian perspectives out-of-hand would be (has been) very unwise for our society.
