Biblical Jurisprudence

What Is the Basis For Morality?

The Associated Press reported yesterday that Rodell Vereen, a South Carolina man, has been charged with having sex with a horse.  The horse’s owner caught him on video tape once, and then again at the round end of her shotgun.  She said the horse was acting strange and getting infections.

He was charged last year for having sex with a horse, the same horse, and pleaded guilty.  He was placed on probation and his name was added to the sex offender list as a result of the plea.

This time he was charged with trespassing and buggery.  The case will be heard on Monday.

Dismissing the trespassing charges for the sake of discussion, and considering this using current standards, what is wrong with having sex with a horse?  The horse is not reported to be too concerned, except that she acted a little “funny”.  We allow having sex with people outside of the marriage covenant.  We allow having sex with people of the same sex.  Why not allow interspecies sex?

The US Taxpayers Party of Michigan and its national affiliate, the Constitution Party is often criticized for its bold declaration that we support a return to the biblical jurisprudence of law.  The accusers love to refer to the fictitious principle of “Separation of Church and State”.

From what or where do our morals come?  What standard is used to determine right and wrong?  In this world of standards and regulations, one would think that we should have a basis, a set of guidelines for the establishment of law…or do we?

Few men in the history of America had the wisdom of George Washington.  At the end of his forty five years of public service, he spoke the following within the content of his farewell address.

Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion, and Morality are indispensable supports. –In vain would man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens.  –The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them.  –A volume could not trace all their connexions with private and public felicity.  –Let it simply be asked where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in Courts of Justice?  And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion.  –Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure-reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.

‘Tis substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government.  –The rule indeed extends with more or less force to every species of Free Government.  –Who that is a sincere friend to it can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation of the fabric?

On May 8, 1758, Samuel Davies had this to say.

Shall we live as if we and our country were self-dependant and had nothing to do with the Supreme Ruler of the Universe?  Can an army of saints or of heroes defend an obnoxious people, ripe for destruction, from the righteous judgement of God?

There are only two options for a foundation of law.  The first is God, as is recognized in our state constitution as the giver and source of freedom.  The second is the will of whoever happens to be in charge.

In the current America, and the current State of Michigan, it is clear that our lawmakers have forgotten Washington’s instructions and are determined to exercise their own will in law.  If we refuse to require our elected officials to once again make law by biblical jurisprudence, where will this train of fool-hearted societal management escort us?

Horses, beware.

But that’s not all.  The honest student of world history can easily predict the result, and if you think good ole’ common country horse sex is ugly, wait until our Constitutional Republic has collapsed and your God given freedoms are gone.  Wait until your 401k’s are no longer of any value and the money is all gone.  Wait until you no longer have the right to teach your children or grandchildren.  Wait until you no longer have the right to own property, attend the church of your choice, vote or even speak against politicians.

It has happened repeatedly throughout world history.  Do you really think we are any different?
