Resolution #1
Whereas, Michigan economic conditions are among the worst of any state in the nation, and
Whereas, Lower taxes are believed to be a large part of a political environment that creates a business friendly atmosphere, and
Whereas, Governor Rick Snyder has taken a bold step by announcing his desire and intent to reduce his salary as Governor to $1.00, and
Whereas, Michigan Representatives and Senators are among the highest paid in the nation, second only to California, and
Whereas, To attract business into the state of Michigan, lawmakers would do well to make a statement that shows business owners that they are serious about creating a business friendly environment,
Therefore, the US Taxpayers Party of Michigan would like to encourage all state lawmakers in Michigan to follow the example of Governor Rick Snyder and numerous other states by reducing their salaries to $1.00 and eliminating all benefits including, but not limited to, health care and pensions they now receive, and reduce taxes accordingly.
Resolution #2
Whereas, in a free country the people must have the right to chose the leaders that they believe will represent their positions, and
Whereas, allowing restriction dictated by the prevailing party to who may run for political office will only have the effect of reducing choice, and
Whereas, this bill by imposing more onerous requirements would have a chilling effect on people that would otherwise want to run for public office,
Therefore, be it resolved that the US Taxpayers Party stands OPPOSED to Senate Bill No. 117 and urges it's members and the citizens of Michigan to instruct the representatives to oppose this un-American legislation.
